Our Story
The Abbey began in 2002 when Justin Baptist Church put its near century-old building up for sale. Naomi Niederer of Argyle, TX purchased this historic property and repurposed it as a wedding and events venue. Because of the compound-like setting of the chapel and outbuildings, Naomi was reminded of the European Abbeys of the 14th and 15th centuries, which were communities unto themselves, always with a chapel, dining hall, sleeping quarters, and gardens. The Abbey offers exactly that . . .
an intimate chapel, a reception hall, two guest houses, and spacious grounds. Hence the name, The Abbey, was chosen to represent this small village of venues.
The Abbey's enthusiastic and loyal staff has built its reputation as a charming and affordable venue for weddings, parties, and all of life's special occasions.

My first "wedding gig" was 15 years ago at my cousin's wedding. I was drafted by the bride to make sure everything went smoothly, and it did! That job ignited my passion for weddings. A decade and a half later, I am still in love with helping each bride and groom have a fabulous and stress-free wedding day.

I find it a joy helping families celebrate their important life events. I like working behind the scenes making sure the centerpieces are perfect, the lights are dimmed just right, and the microphones are ready. Then I quietly exit stage right and let the hosts receive the accolades for their successful event.
